This is a decent map for the Steel Teeth Faction. It could be played with a mix of terraforming and suspension bridge strategies. This is one of the biggest, a full size map. The Terrace map is a more balanced version of the Mountain range map, with lots of table land mesas. Everything is possible here: terraforming, explosives, suspension bridges, and either faction is do-able. You could do just about anything with this full size map. But, the map is mostly land, as opposed to the Thousand Islands map. The Lakes map is one of the biggest, with a very balanced terrain. This overlap district method is an easy way to start new districts. And, once you’ve stocked plenty of resources over there and built a barracks with your starting district workers, you can add a new district over there that’s already stocked, so you can reach metal. I recommend adding multiple resources and more water pump/ tanks on the reachable bank, which you probably spanned with a dam (just above the waterfall.) The dam here keeps water inside for the drought season. You’re not going to want to have a district without arable land until later in the game when you can adequately terraform. In addition, the river can be filled with platforms, creating a riverwalk for industrial buildings, and freeing up arable land for growing things. It is very basic, with easy access to the water and the bank opposite the river. This is the first map, and the one that is recommended for starters. Whatever you choose, there’s much to see and do already in this early access title. You are also able to create your own maps in the editor, or edit one of the game maps, and save it under a different name for playing. They come in Full size, Three quarter, Half size, and Tiny. Select this option and one can install a variety of mods and new maps to enhance game play. If it is installed correctly, upon running Timberborn, one will see a new menu item called “Mod manager” third from the bottom. Mod Manager The next and final step to enabling Timberborn mods with a useful in-game browser is to install the Mod Manager mod as follows:Įxpand the contents of the archive into the newly created Timberborn BepInEx\plugins folder (e.g., “C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Timberborn\BepInEx\plugins”) From here, the first functional mod needs to be installed. There will be no change visible in the game aside from this. This alone only provides a capability of adding useful mods. If it is installed correctly, when starting Timberborn a console will come up with scrolling text, providing feedback on the status of the loader. Timberborn Mods To unlock the next level of gameplay in Timberborn, enabling features such as automatically closing floodgates, curving staircases, and mirrored buildings, one needs to install the two basic mods, BepInEx and Mod Manager.
